What We Offer,
We offer two hour sessions or 6-13 week short courses made up of two hour sessions. These include equine interaction and duties required to maintain their environment. We provide bespoke packages personalised to meet learners needs including literacy, numeracy, social and emotional embedded learning.
Our programmes develop timekeeping, communication skills, teamwork, learning on the job, following instructions, emotional intelligence, self management and resilience.
By taking responsibility for the daily repetitive care of a horse, feeding, grooming, cleaning tack and tidying equipment learners start to recognise independently when jobs need to be done.
Learners relate the care they give our horses to their own self care, nutrition, health and exercise. Money skills are taught through learning about the cost of keeping horses (adapted to individual learners needs).
Horses are herd animals and have natural social needs within their herd. Learners will observe how horses communicate and show respect and relate this to the wider context of interacting and being part of a community themselves.
About The Yard sessions take place in an outdoor environment. Learners will be engaging in physical activities through the care of horses and maintaining their environment. Taking responsibilities for the dietary and health needs of a horse will encourage learners to consider their own health needs.
